Vocal cords cysts

Definition

Cysts on vocal cord are pocket-like gland  filled with fluids secreted by vocal cords mucosa.

Main causes of vocal cords cysts:

  • Vocal overstraining or incorrect use of your vocal cords.

Vocal professionals, just like athletes, must be attentive to their body. After a  vocal effort, like after any other physical efforts, you must have a rest.

A continuous vocal effort without a rest, or an abrupt

vocal effort, when your cords are too exhausted for that effort, might traumatize your vocal folds, resulting in various lesions.

 In case of an existing damage, an insufficient rest will not allow your cords heal, thus worsening the damage, sometimes to the extent of lesions.

Common symptoms of vocal cords cysts:

  • Hoarseness
  • Restricted vocal range
  • ‘Thickened’ voice.
  • Sensation of a foreign object in your larynx.
  • Vocal discomfort.

And there are many other symptoms.

Vocal cords cyst treatment:

Conventional medical often includes surgery.

However here, as in many other cases, we prefer conservative treatment: restoring your vocal cord’s activity and voice capacity by using TMRG’s natural solutions and exercises.

Our treatment have resulted in significant improvement of vocal cords mobility and vocal production.

Our purpose is primarily to restore your vocal performance.

 The treatment for vocal cords cysts:

TMRG’s treatment of vocal cords cysts combines exercising with the TPV extras kit, followed by an appropriate period of vocal rest.

It is to be stressed that both vocal rest and exercising are necessary, in case of acute vocal issues.

Exercising without sufficient rest will only worsen the problem.

Similarly, rest alone will not improve your condition. Eventually, it will even weaken your vocal cords.

 The advantages of the treatment:

  • Exercising with a TPV kit is very easy and takes no longer than one minute at a time. It consists of breathing in and breathing out. The breathing in involves an inhalation of vapors, which serves to relax your vocal cords. The breathing out, overcoming the water’s resistance ,while making ascending and descending tones, serves to stretch and strengthen your vocal cords increasing their flexibility. .
  • The combination of breathing exercises and TMRG natural solutions serves to soften, disinfect and protect the damaged area.

 Good luck

 Vocal cords Hemorrhage

Hemorrhage is an internal bleeding. It happens when a blood vessel is broken, letting the blood flow out of it.

 Most important:  when you suspect a vocal cords hemorrhage, you must have a vocal rest. In such a case, you must have an ENT doctor’s diagnosis. Once you find out you have a vocal cords hemorrhage, you must have a vocal rest, and, if possible, keep silent for several days.

Causes of vocal cords hemorrhage:

Vocal cord hemorrhage is the result of vocal cords trauma or damage, due to excessive vocal effort such as:

  • Shouting,
  • Loud coughing,
  • Sneezing,
  • Loud laughter,
  • Loud singing, etc.

 Vocal cords hemorrhage treatment:

  • The main treatment is vocal rest, in order to prevent vocal cords nodules or polyps, as ENT doctors usually recommend.

TMRG’s vocal cords hemorrhage treatment:

  • In Addition to silence (if ordered by your ENT doctor), undergo 3 inhalations a day using the TPV device, for 10 minutes at a time.
  • After the inhalation, drink a TMRG Voice Powder solution. This will make you feel your cords are coated, and minimize their friction. It will also protect your cords against acid and phlegm effects.
  • After your ENT doctor reexamines your cords, and allows it,

start speaking again. Now, you must exercise breathing out, too, through the TPV device.

You must carry out the treatment thoroughly, in order to avoid harming your cords make them fully recover.

 Exercising with a TPV device is the best way of making your vocal cords flexible. In such a case, do the following:

  • Exercise as gently as possible, making ascending and descending tones.
  • Most importantly: practice using the vocal areas where you can make sounds easily, without pressing or forcing your vocal cords.
  • Start with narrow tone ranges, expanding them gradually when you feel improvement.
  • Focus on the lower parts of your vocal range.

Most importantly: resume your normal vocal routine gradually only, in order to avoid harming your cords.

In addition, you must follow vocal hygiene rules and quit harmful routines, if necessary:

  • Make sure to have a sufficient amount of sleep.
  • Have a vocal rest during the day.
  • Have a sufficient amount of drinking.
  • Speak or sing at the appropriate tone and at a moderate vocal intensity, slowly, easily and effortlessly.
  • We recommend consulting a speech therapist, in order to avoid recurrent similar problems. If you are a singer, consult your vocal coach, in order to correct your vocal technique.

Good luck and stay tuned,

Talya

Hoarseness

What is hoarseness?

Hoarseness is any damage to your voice box affecting your vocal quality.

The main causes of hoarseness are:

  • Vocal misuse or abuse
  • Vocal overstraining
  • Vocal performance in difficult vocal environments, e.g. speaking in a noisy classroom, or singing without an appropriate amplification system.
  • Bacterial and viral infections.
  • Insufficient hydration of the vocal cords.

Etc., etc.

 Common causes of hoarseness

The most common cause of vocal problems is vocal strain, usually combined with other health issues, such as the following:

  • Sore throat;
  • Acid reflux;
  • Thyroid gland dysfunction;
  • Insufficient sleep;
  • Improper diet;
  • Smoking;
  • Dry vocal cords;
  • Side effects of specific medications.

Sometimes, the cause is incorrect speaking or singing technique.

Your doctor or voice therapist tells you very often you should “learn how to speak (or sing) right”.  Actually,  the correct speaking technique comes naturally. You need therapists to learn how to avoid pressing your cords during vocal difficulties. The proper vocal technique is the healthiest one.

Vocal Tips

The proper way to speak is such that minimizes the strain on your throat and doesn’t harm your larynx.

If your routine use of your vocal cords damages them or worsens a preexisting problem, then your vocal routine does not fit your circumstances. This may result in damages to your vocal health, such as nodules restricting your vocal performance, breathing difficulties, sore throat, etc.

To illustrate our point, a sore throat without any vocal strains should be over in a few days, leaving no traces worse than a mild hoarseness that will be over within two weeks.

Be attentive to your vocal needs!

We believe, following Jung, that “disease is the effort made by nature to heal the man”. It means that you should regard hoarseness as an alert against an existing problem, which should drive you to change.

If you are attentive to your vocal needs, and do what it takes to restore your vocal cords health, you will be able to cure or even prevent your hoarseness even in unfavorable environments.

Nowadays, new technologies offer us the means to handle severe vocal stress and vocal conditions that are less than optimal.

So what to do about hoarseness?

First, you should minimize your vocal strain. Use as low vocal intensity as possible, but avoid whispering.  Speak and sing as gently as possible, without attacking the sounds.

Channel the sound to frontal resonance areas. You can exercise speaking with your hand closing your nose, in order to practice frontal resonance.

It’s important to combine mild, regular exercises with the following TMRG products, before and after any vocal effort:

  • TMRG Classic Spray provides vocal support;
  • TMRG Voice Saline Oil Spray disinfects the damaged area;
  • TMRG Voice Powder protects the damaged area from acidity and prevents worn-out voice.

TVP device: the best solution for hoarseness

UsingTPV device can cure and even prevent hoarseness, without unnecessary surgeries.

For your vocal cords, vocal exercises with aTPV device, combined with the aforementioned solutions, is like a resistance exercise in a sauna.  The stretching of your vocal muscles helps their recovery, while the solutions disinfect the larynx and clear phlegm and acid from the vocal cords and respiratory system.

Good luck,

Talya

How to give your voice a greater depth and brilliance, and use more resonance space?

This is what every singer, actor or lecturer dream of- having an exciting voice, reaching for their listeners’ hearts and souls. Wouldn’t be wonderful to know your voice will have the ‘wow’ effect once you open your mouth?

How I discovered TMRG natural solutions

I have studied vocal techniques for many years, always exploring new and occasionally odd techniques. I never stopped searching techniques and exercises, which might help me, and my students improve our vocal quality, enrich our tones, and give our voices the long sought-after charm and luster. This is a rare treasure, only found by a handful of geniuses.

My quest led me to discover fascinating ways of achieving a variety of vocal effects, yet it fell short of what I was after. I was looking for the secret of reaching the peak of one’s vocal performance anytime and under any circumstance, with short notice, calmly and confidently.

I didn’t restrict myself to the fields of vocal instruction, but also looked for that magic technique in a variety of alternative medicine disciplines, such as aromatherapy, herbalism, classic and modern homeopathy, etc.

As part of my exploration, I also tested the effects of medicinal herbs’ combinations on my own and, occasionally, my students’ vocal system.

My persistent exploration eventually gave birth to TMRG Solutions: a series of herbal essences, oils and devices intended to address   vocal issues, as well as enhancing vocal capacity, brilliance, depth and many other vocal qualities.

How it all works:

  • TMRG herbal essences and oils clear your vocal cords and respiratory system of acid and phlegm excesses, thus making your tone clearer and more brilliant instantly.
  • Importantly, TMRG solutions also enhance the blood supply to your vocal cords. This significantly shortens your vocal cords recovery in case of a damage, and amazingly improves their performance.
  • TMRG solutions also help you breathe more easily and control your airflow better. The clearing of your resonance cavities will immediately improve the color of your voice.
  • Washing your sinuses with TMRG sinus funnel and hopi ear candling will open up new resonance areas and ease the airflow through your sinuses. The sinuses are part of your natural amplification system. Therefore, keeping them clear of any obstacles will quickly improve your vocal quality.  If you have to perform after a flight, make sure to candle your ears, since the air pressure during the flight may damage your hearing. As a result, you might increase the pressure on your vocal cords.
  • Vocal exercising with a TPV device, overcoming the water’s resistance, will make your vocal cord stronger and more flexible, and expand your respiratory system.
  • A combination of exercising with TPV device and using TMRG natural solutions will relax and energize your vocal muscles, providing them a perfect disinfection, easing their operation.

 To conclude:

  • TMRG solutions will disinfect and clear your resonance areas, thus helping you maintain your resonance cavities and allow you to channel your sound there. TMRG solutions will also help enhance the blood and energy supply to your vocal muscles.
  • Vocal Exercising with TPV device will help you warm up and strengthen your vocal folds and your respiratory muscles. Therefore, the combination of using TMRG natural solutions with exercising with TPV device will allow you a better airflow control and a better operation of your vocal cords.

Good luck,

 Incomplete Vocal Folds Closure

Incomplete Vocal Folds Closure is very common ENT doctors’ diagnosis of vocal difficulties.

What is Incomplete Vocal Folds Closure?

Your vocal folds contact and part from each other hundreds of times per second. Normally, they should close your glottis completely, but without pressure, in order to avoid harm. In case of incomplete closure, the folds either don’t close tightly or contact each other asymmetrically.

 Incomplete vocal folds closure symptoms:

  • Your voice sounds airier, due to air leaking through the gaps between the incompletely closed cords.
  • A sense of greater vocal difficulty.
  • Weaker voice;
  • Hoarseness;
  • Vocal fatigue,

Etc., etc.

Causes of Incomplete vocal folds closure:

  • Vocal fatigue due to vocal cords overuse, or to general fatigue and weakness of specific muscles.
  • Vocal cords lesions preventing their complete closure.

Incomplete vocal folds closure treatment:

The recommended treatment depends on the cause.

If the cause is vocal cords lesions such as nodules, the required treatment is using your vocal cords gently, minimizing your vocal intensity.

By contrast, if the cause is weakness of the vocal cords, the required treatment is intensified exercises aimed at strengthening your vocal cords muscles, in addition to sufficient vocal rest between vocal efforts.

Recommended exercises for better vocal cords closure (in case of weakness of the vocal cords without lesions)

  • Staccato pronunciation: stress and “flip” the sounds, making them clearly distinct from each other. You can repeat certain with smoothness and momentum. Make the air slightly more compressed than  usual, like in a “vocal attack”, to make your vocal cords contact more fully.

Vocal support muscles strengthening exercises:

  • Static exercises, for better vocal cords closure:

In these exercises, you should press your vocal cords forcefully, for a couple of seconds.  For example:

  • A neck muscle strengthening exercise: press your hands against each other, with your arms at your chest level and stretched sideways. Maintain this position for several minutes, relax your arms, rest for a few seconds, and then resume the position. Repeat it 3 times in a row, 3 times a day.
  • Abdominal, diaphragm, and intercostal muscle exercises. For example, the Max Plank spinal, abdominal and torso exercise:
  1. Lie on your belly.
  2. Rest on your forearms.
  3. Rise and rest on your toes’ fingertips, detaching your body from the ground.
  4. Keep your body parallel to the ground, making sure your buttock neither protrudes nor sunk.
  5. Make sure to breathe throughout the exercise. If you suffer breathing difficulties, or tremble, stop and rest.

Repeat the exercise 3 times, for 5 seconds at a time, 3 times a week. Increase the duration gradually.

Finally, there is the optimal means of prevention and recovery for nearly all vocal cords issues(with or without lesions):

 exercising with TPV device.

During the exercise, the water in the device offers vocal resistance, thus strengthening your vocal cords and helps them regain complete closure. The water’s resistance also counterbalances the pressure on your vocal cords, thus preventing any pressure-related damage.

The combination of exercising with TPV device and using TMRG natural solutions results in an amazingly quick recovery of nearly all cases of incomplete vocal cords closure.

It can also gradually improve your condition in cases of vocal cords paralysis or nervous system related vocal issues.

Good luck,

Talya

Loss of Voice

Main causes for loss of voice:

  • Most frequently, it is common cold which, in turn, causes hoarseness, followed by an inflammation of the vocal cords. Once your vocal cords inflamed, they get swollen and cannot contact, and therefore you cannot make a sound.
  • Vocal overstraining, without a sufficient vocal rest. It may cause inflammation of the vocal cords, and be worsened by infectious disease.
  • Nervous system damage or muscle damage, for various causes.

Symptoms and early warning signs of loss of voice:

General

  • Hoarseness and vocal difficulties, gradually worsening to complete or partial loss of voice.
  • Sensations of discomfort, pains, vocal difficulties, hoarseness, insufficient vocal intensity, or roughness.

Be very attentive to your throat and vocal quality.  All the aforementioned symptoms are your body’s way of telling you to take some preventive action.

As long as your larynx feels well, you can easily control your vocal range and voice production, and your vocal quality is satisfactory.

How to prevent a loss of voice:

The way to prevent the loss of your voice is strictly following the vocal hygiene rules. Bear in mind that an intense vocal effort requires an enormous amount of energy. Therefore make sure to do the following:

  • Very often, all you need is a vocal rest. Make sure to have a sufficiently long night sleep. This will help you not only prevent vocal issues, but also improve your immune system. Also, bear in mind that the nighttime is when your growth hormone, which is responsible for your muscle recovery, is at its maximum level.
  • Make sure to have a diet providing you with a sufficient amount of energy for your vocal effort.
  • Make sure to practice vocal release exercises and any vocal support technique.
  • If you caught a cold, or during a vocal strain, it is recommended to protect your vocal cords with TMRG natural solutions, such as TMRG Voice Powder or TMRG Classic Spray.

loss of voice treatment:

  • A loss of voice usually disappears by itself, if it is caused by the common causes.
  • Make sure to have a vocal rest, and patiently wait for your vocal cords to recover before resuming your regular vocal activity.
  • Do not try to force yourself to speak, and certainly do not press your voice while singing.
  • Resume vocal exercising only when you feel a significant improvement.
  • Carefully make sure to resume your vocal activity gradually.

The best possible treatment is vocal exercises with TPV device.

  • Start with bubbling exercise, breathing in and out, without making a sound.
  • Once you regain even a little of your vocal capacity, start making ascending and descending tones, very gently.
  • Only make sounds in areas where it feels comfortable, without any force or pressure.
  • Slightly expand your vocal range with every improvement.
  • Most importantly, focus on practicing ascending and descending tones of your lower parts of your range.

Again, make sure to resume your vocal exercising only gradually.

A mild vocal exercising with TPV device, using your vocal comfort zones only, will allow you to shorten and most importantly, control  your voice and vocal cords recovery amazingly.

Good luck,

Talya,

Vocal nodules

Vocal nodules is a common vocational illness of vocal professionals.

What are vocal nodules?

They look like bulges on the vocal cords. Usually, they are arranged in a symmetrical form, facing each other.  They are more common among women and children than among men, since the former speak with a higher tone, which exposes the cords to more intense contraction and stretching.

  Common causes of vocal nodules

  • Overstraining or misuse of the vocal cords.
  • Vocal overload due to excessive acidity or phlegm, or premature resumption of normal vocal routine after a cold, while one’s voice is yet to recover fully.
  • In female teachers, it may be a postnatal effect.
  • A combination of vocal load with specific physical weakness. (This can cause vocal nodules even among those who use the vocal techniques recommended by vocal instructors and speech therapists).

Vocal nodules symptoms:

  • Hoarseness;
  • Gritty voice;
  • Breaking voice;
  • Failure to control tone range;
  • Discomfort;
  • Exhaustion;
  • Pain;
  • Vocal difficulties and constraints;
  • Low vocal quality, which might lead to a breathy voice, due to incomplete vocal colds closure;
  • In extreme cases, depression and unwillingness to communicate.

Etc.

How to prevent vocal nodules

General speaking, the way to avoid nodules is to make sure you use your vocal cords in a healthy way:

  • Avoid shouting or continuous speech, with no rest.
  • Be attentive to your vocal needs: if you feel vocal fatigue or your voice seems less than optimal, you should let it rest, by avoiding pressing it and minimizing vocal intensity.
  • Take preventive actions: wash your mouth with salt, gargle vinegar, or use TMRG’s vocal system protection and support solutions and devices.

 Vocal Nodules Treatment:

Previously, the usual treatment was a surgical removal of the nodules. This treatment has its downsides.  The surgery might damage the vocal cords’ inner layers. In addition, even a successful surgery cannot prevent the recurrence of nodules, unless you use a better vocal technique.

TMRG’s new  fundamental treatment

The fundamental treatment is vocal exercises with a TPV device. This innovative treatment has already gained reputation as a comprehensive solution for vocal cords nodules. In addition to treating the nodules, it also offers vocal cords and general muscle relaxation, strengthening your respiratory muscles, and good sensation in general. The TPV device makes this treatment  very easy.

TPV treatment’s advantages:

  • It is a fundamental and comprehensive treatment for a variety of vocal issues, gently releasing and activating your vocal cords;
  • It significantly enhances your vocal cords’ flexibility and range of movement.
  • It allows a resistance exercise of your vocal cords anytime and anywhere.

Important tips:

  • In order to shorten the recovery, it is recommended to minimize your vocal efforts during the first two weeks of the treatment.
  • In order to learn how to speak mildly, without pressing your vocal cords, try to speak with your ears plugged, sensing your voice “inwardly”, and speak as mildly as possible, but do not whisper.

Good luck,

Talya

Vocal cord paralysis and paresis, and neurological problems affecting your voice

What is vocal cord paralysis?

Normally, vocal cords, just like other muscles, receive a nerve impulse, which makes them move. A vocal cord paralysis is an absence of nerve input to the cord.

The effects of vocal cord paralysis:

Your vocal cords are responsible not only for your vocal performance. They are also essential for your survival, since they keep your food and drink out of your windpipe.

Therefore, any vocal cord paralysis, especially a bad one, requires consulting an ENTdoctor.

Types of Vocal cord paralysis:

  • Paralysis, i.e. complete paralysis
  • Paresis, i.e. partial paralysis.
  • Reversible paralysis
  • Irreversible paralysis

It is most important to locate the paralyzed cord accurately:

If the paralyzed cord is in the center, it will be less harmful to your voice production, since the other cord will allow the closing of the cords.  You will suffer greater vocal folds closing difficulties in case the paralyzed cord is on the side.

Possible causes of vocal cords paralysis:

  • Vocal cord nerve damage caused by surgical intubation, i.e. tube inserted between the cords, in order to expand airways.
  • Nerve damage cause by cold, viruses or bacteria.
  • Vocal cords trauma due to intense vocal effort, such as crying, shouting, or intense coughing.

There are other causes, which cannot always be detected.

Common Vocals symptoms of vocal cords paralysis

  • Weak voice.
  • Airy voice;
  • Vocal difficulties.
  • Hoarseness, etc.

 TMRG’s treatment of vocal cord paralysis:

Most important: you must start the treatment as immediately as possible.

Some specialists say that in cases of reversible vocal cord paralysis, a recovery will be easier if it is treated within one year after it starts.

However, we recommend the following treatment even in cases of irreversible paralysis. In this case, this treatment serves to exercise the healthy cord, in order to keep it from being damaged by overstraining.  This way, it improves your vocal quality.

 The treatment, in both cases, is exercising with TPV device.

The exercise has two parts:

  • Breathing out, overcoming the water’s resistance, making ascending and descending tones. It serves to contract your vocal cords, thus increasing their flexibility. The water’s resistance also minimizes the friction between the vocal folds.
  • Inhalation of vapors, which serves to moisturize and relax your vocal cords and false vocal cords.

The combination of exercising with TPV device, on one hand,   and using TMRG natural solutions, on the other hand, is an easy and effective way to practice voice production.

Good luck and get well,

Talya

Vocal cords polyps are benign unilateral lesion, growing on one side of the vocal cords’ mucosa.

Main symptoms of vocal cord polyps:

  • Hoarseness
  • Screechy voice;
  • Vocal quality change;
  • Vocal fatigue;
  • Great vocal effort is required.
  • Excessive phlegm on vocal cords;
  • Feeling of a lump your throat

Main causes of polyps:

  • A damage to blood vessels.
  • A sudden trauma due to intense vocal effort, such as a loud cry, loud and long (sometimes too quick) speech, intense cough, vomiting, strong sneeze, and so on. In short, the most common cause of vocal cords’ polyps is a sudden vocal load.
  • Incorrect and unhealthy singing technique, such that puts your vocal cords under pressure their cannot endure;
  • An intense vocal effort without a vocal warm-up, sufficient rest, drinking, etc., which eventually damages the vocal cords.
  • It may get worse due to acidity reflux and certain medication with dehydrating effects.

How to detect polyps in your throat?

Detecting a polyp takes an endoscopy by an ENT doctor. Endoscopy is the insertion of an optic fiber, attached to a tiny camera, through the nose or mouth.

Vocal cords polyp treatment

 Previously, patients were offered to undergo a surgery since it takes a polyp much longer to heal than vocal nodules.  Sometimes, it wouldn’t heal at all.   But we are happy to report that TMRG have achieved amazing results in vocal system healing and recovery, thanks to TPV device.

The best remedy is a combination of regular exercising with the device, to release and strengthen all your voice box muscles, and TMRG’s natural solutions, to support your vocal system and disinfect your voice box.

An essential element of the treatment is the unique way of Active Inhalation through the device. This will effectively release all your voice box muscles. The result will be a safe and effective vocal recovery.

Active inhalation also releases your false vocal folds. These are thick muscles situated right on top of your vocal cords, and are essential for your survival. Their function is to seal your vocal cords tightly while you eat and drink, to keep your food and drink out of your respiratory system. Otherwise, especially when you make a voice, they should be relaxed and not strain the vocal cords, in order not to harm them.

If you use incorrect vocal techniques, or when you suffer hoarseness or vocal difficulties, they contract and press your cords. This is one reason for pressed-sounding voice.

During hoarseness, in order to protect your vocal cords, you must release these muscles so the vocal cords don’t suffer additional load and unnecessary damage. The effective way of releasing them is Active Inhalation.

The combination of exercising with the TPV device and the application of our natural solutions, allows your vocal system to recover and resume normal activity in a reasonably short time.

Good luck.

A remedy for Reinke’s Edema

Definition:

Reinke’s edema, or vocal cords edema, is an accumulation of fluid under The vocal cords’ epithelium, or external layer, which swells the cords.

Common causes of Reinke’s edema of the vocal cords:

Vocal professionals, namely singers, teachers and public speakers expose their vocal cords to continuous strain many hours a day, or are required to use high vocal intensity.  They are prone to reinke’s edema in the following cases:

  • When resuming their work after a recovery from pharyngitis;
  • Sore throat.
  • Smoking for a long time, which can also thicken the cords.
  • Acid reflux, i.e. acid entering your pharynx from your esophagus. This might burn your cords, causing edema of the vocal cords, false vocal cords, or other parts of your voice box.

Other causes of vocal cords edema:

  • Hormonal changes;
  • Allergic responses to medications and other substances;
  • A trauma of the cords following an injury, including a surgery.
  • Making a sudden, strained sound, such as loud cough, shout, etc.

The symptoms:

  • A tone lower than usual, with a bass color, to the extent that a woman’s voice may sound manly, over the phone.
  • In the case of singers, a difficulty to reach high tones.
  • Voice-generating difficulties;
  • Vocal coarseness;
  • Broken voice;
  • Screechy voice;
  • Occasionally, throat pain and vocal fatigue;
  • Breathing difficulties (e.g. gasping), due to swollen vocal cords restricting the airflow into your respiratory system.

Warning:

In case of acute edema, which gives you breathing difficulties, you must consult an ENT doctor. In extreme cases, a surgical interference is required, to open your airways.

The edema dilemma:

On one hand, silence is not the right thing to do, since in the case of edema, the swollen cords restrict the blood and fluids circulation in the inflicted zone. Therefore, you must move your cords to allow a flow.

On the other hand, if you keep singing and speaking, as usual, at high vocal intensity and wide vocal range, your edema will only get worse, since you will be pressuring your cords and the swollen area. It looks like you lose both ways, and your edema just won’t go away.

 There is a solution!

As in any other vocal cords’ diseases, here, too, we recommend minimizing the usual vocal strain for a couple of weeks, if possible.

Most importantly, you should exercise, up to one minute, several times a day. In such a condition- the more, the better.

Mildly moving your vocal cords is a much better remedy than silence. For example, you should gargle water while making ascending and descending sounds.

Exercising will enhance the flow of blood and oxygen to your throat, and gradually restore your vocal cords flexibility.

The best remedy for Reinke’s edema is exercising with a TPV device. Make sure that your exercises are regular, short, and feels nice to your throat and vocal cords.

The interaction of your vocal cords with each other should be swift, mild and involve minimum effort.  The resistance of the water will provide vocal support and is the quickest way of exercising with maximum effects. Exercising with the TPV device will gradually expand your vocal cords’ range of movement.

As a result, the vocal cords movement will significantly improve your edema.

So don’t give up hope!
